Donations for Hurricane Beryl Relief Efforts Make a donation
Dear Fellow Jamaicans and Friends,
As you are aware, Hurricane Beryl passed over Jamaica on Wednesday, 3rd July 2024, as a Category 4 hurricane. Following the passage of the system, the Government of Jamaica embarked on a comprehensive assessment of the entire island to determine the extent of the damages incurred. The Office of Disaster Preparedness and Emergency Management (ODPEM) is leading this effort.
Preliminary reports indicated that two lives have been lost. The southern parishes of Clarendon, Manchester and St. Elizabeth are the ones most adversely affected, with extensive damage to housing infrastructure, primarily roofing; farms and agricultural lands; road infrastructure in some areas caused from landslides, flooding; downed power lines and trees and the coastline. The relevant government entities: utilities companies and telecommunication providers have all been working assiduously to restore services to the affected persons. We empathize with our fellow Jamaicans who have been affected by Hurricane Beryl.
ODPEM is now spearheading the relief efforts. ODPEM has indicated a preference for monetary donations to expedite the response efforts. We will provide the banking details to facilitate the transmittal of funds directly to ODPEM in short order.
The High Commission of Jamaica extends its deep appreciation for the messages of support from you our Diaspora, and our international partners.
