The High Commissioner later met with the Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture, Mohammed Awal in his office. The High Commissioner stressed the need for Ghana and Jamaica to deepen their relationship through tourism and people-to-people interactions. In response, the Minister stated that Ghana was in a unique position to facilitate the growth of Jamaica’s presence in the sub region through trade and other related activities due to the siting of the Africa Trade House in Accra.
He invited Jamaica to take advantage of its close relationship with Ghana to increase its presence in the sub region. The Minister further stated that Ghana had a lot to learn from Jamaica in the tourism industry and would therefore be calling on the Jamaican authorities to extend their expertise to Ghana to help the country develop its tourism industry in the future.
