On 2nd December 2025, the Honorary Consul, Okatakyie Boakye Danquah Ababio, met with senior leadership of the Ghana Army’s 48 Regiment to advance discussions on the Government of Ghana’s offer to deploy a specialised team to support Jamaica’s post-Hurricane Melissa recovery efforts.

The meeting brought together key military officials, including Brigadier General William Archibold Kwabiah, Deputy Chief Staff Officer for Operations and Training; Brigadier General Richard Kinney, Commander of the 14 Engineer Brigade; Colonel Emmanuel Asia, Deputy Commander of the 14 Engineer Brigade; as well as Mrs. Elizabeth Dodoo, Director of the Americas Bureau at Ghana’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
